The Artist's Eye: Giovanni Valderas

"Artist Giovanni Valderas will present a gallery talk in the Kimbell Art Museum’s "Artist's Eye" series. Eric M. Lee, director of the Kimbell, will moderate this free program. Valderas will discuss European portraits in the Kimbell collection, including "Portrait of Dr. Francisco de Pisa" by El Greco and "Portrait of Don Pedro de Barberana" by Diego Velázquez. Valderas employs mixed-media elements such as indigenous fabrics, brightly colored paper, acrylic paint, and wood to produce three-dimensional works that address his Guatemalan, Mexican, and American ancestry and culture."
