January 11 - February 15,2020
"WEATHER REPORT, an exhibition by Marilyn Jolly and the artist’s first solo show with the gallery. The exhibition opens Saturday, January 11, 2020 and is on display through February 15, 2020 at 150 Manufacturing Street Suite 210, with a reception from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. With the passing of time, seasons turn and light shifts. Mindsets behave like the changing weather, adapting to the rhythm of external influences but always with a familiar response. Patterns of thought and daily action become routine. Marilyn Jolly’s work explores her personal relationship with time, evolving from day to day tasks into a lifetime of routine. The surfaces, often weathered or consisting of multiple layers, allude to the passage of time. Her use of assemblage reflects a tendency to order days into structure with various habits and to-do lists. Jolly’s appreciation of nature, to which she devotes much time, also appears in the work by way of natural materials and hues reminiscent of landscapes. The introspective pieces share insight into her continuous internal dialogue as each day is spent meditating, working in the garden, and watching the weather. Jolly’s exhibition will consist of new paintings, sculpture, collage, assemblage, and one of Jolly’s largest works to date – a painting measuring 6 x 12 feet."
