Registration for the ArtPace spring 2020 artist talk can be found here. On Thursday, March 19, Artpace will unveil new exhibitions by our Spring 2020 International Artists-in-Residence. Carlos Castro Arias (San Diego, California / Tijuana, Mexico / Bogotá, Colombia), Milagros de la Torre (New York, New York), and Daniel Ramos (Sandy Oaks, Texas) have been in-residence at Artpace since January exploring San Antonio and creating new work. Featuring: MILAGROS DE LA TORRE, New York, NY, USA Systems and Constellations Milagros de la Torre is a New York based artist working with the photographic medium since 1991. She studied Communications Sciences at the University of Lima and received a B.A. (Hons) in Photographic Arts from the London College. DANIEL RAMOS, Sandy Oaks, TX, USA The Land of Illustrious Men Daniel Ramos exhibited The Land of Illustrious Men at Filter Space, Chicago in 2019. The series was featured in The New York Times Lens column and PDN Edu Magazine. Ramos won the 2018 Dorothea Lange-Paul Taylor Prize. CARLOS CASTRO ARIAS, Tijuana, Mexico “I came to set the world on fire, and I wish it were already kindled” —Luke 12:49 Carlos Castro Arias was born in Bogota, Colombia. His interdisciplinary work explores individual and collective identity and the body as a personal and social entity. Through the formal and symbolic re-contextualization of objects and images, Castro leads viewers.
