Nic Nicosia: Bugged Plant Drawings

Nic Nicosia, Bugged Plant Drawings, launching on the gallery’s new online platform ECG Viewing Room on Thursday, May 14, 2020 and installed in the gallery to be viewed by appointment. For the safety of the gallery’s staff and patrons, Erin Cluley Gallery will be open by appointment until further notice at their location in the Dallas Design District at 150 Manufacturing Street, Suite 210. Through personal experiences, Nic Nicosia has realized life is full of bugs. First introduced in the “bug dream drawing” series, the “bug” subject embodies the literal and metaphorical bugs of daily life. Using imagery from his dreams and imagination, each bug manifests into the subject of a drawing — referencing the artist’s own personal “bugs” in life. In this new series of drawings, the bugs inhabit plants that can be found in and around Nicosia’s home — reinforcing the idea that the bugs are intertwined into our daily lives. Bugged Plant Drawings features 10 new beautifully framed graphite and ink drawings on paper. Nicosia is most known for his photographic work but drawing and sculpture have played major roles in his studio practice during the past decade.
