Bethany Springer: The New Frontier

August 07 - September 26,2020

A solo exhibition featuring work by Bethany Springer. From LHUCA: "Bethany Springer examines the idea of progress as it relates to globalization she believes is key in understanding place and displacement in contemporary culture. The romantic notion of discovering new territory, exploring exotic nature, or simply finding a remote location is increasingly unrealistic thanks to advances in communication and transportation, GPS navigation, cell phone towers, and Wi-Fi hubs. How place is established, reinforced, and lost is referenced in her work through the juxtaposition of seemingly disparate historical and contemporary images, metaphors that often find ironic commonality through a quick online search."
