Antonio Turok: In Times of Covid-19

August 29 - October 03,2020

A solo exhibition featuring work by Antonio Turok. To view the exhibition in the gallery's online viewing room, go here. From the gallery: "For decades, photographer Antonio Turok has traveled through his native Mexico and Central America, capturing images that speak of the human condition. Often capturing conflict and war, Turok has found himself staying close to home during the current pandemic – the first time in his life here he has not traveled to document a crisis in real time. In Antonio Turok’s exhibition In Times of Covid-19, the artist has put together a selection of recent and past photographs displaying the beauty and landscape immediately surrounding him in his home state of Oaxaca and other areas of Mexico. One extreme panoramic titled “Atardecer Agaves y Maiz” (Late Afternoon Agaves and Corn) is quintessentially Oaxacan – capturing the mountains, a passing thunderstorm, and the indigenous corn fields."
