"The Trinity University Department of Art and Art History is pleased to present Mike Osborne: Federal Triangle as part of the Stieren Arts Enrichment Series.
Federal Triangle is a timely series of black-and-white photographs shot in and around Washington, DC. The project looks at the city – its sites of power and its margins – from a perspective that speaks to our current iteration of "the paranoid style." Titled after the government complex wedged between the Capitol and the White House, Osborne’s photographs document his observations as a nearby resident of what he describes as, “a kind of bureaucratic Bermuda Triangle—an impenetrable place of mystery, danger, and disorientation.” The virtual solo exhibition will include a curated selection of images as well as supporting text by the artist, and will be posted to the Neidorff Gallery’s social media platforms. Access to the virtual gallery content will be open to the public. Mike Osborne is a photographer whose work explores a range of themes including architecture, landscape, history, and technology, ultimately realised as books and exhibitions. His recent photographs are included in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Dallas Museum of Art; the Contemporary Austin; and the University of Virginia. His work has also appeared in publications such as the New Yorker, Time, the New York Times, and the New Republic. The Federal Triangle project was published as a monograph by Gnomic Book in 2019. Osborne received a BA from Stanford University and an MFA in photography from the University of Texas at Austin. This exhibition is made possible by Jane and the late Arthur Stieren. All events are free and open to the public."On View: October 19, 2020 | 10-5 pm
