July 28 - August 07,2010
Tomás Saraceno's first large-scale museum exhibition in the US takes place at the Blaffer Gallery! Lighter than Air showcases twenty installations, sculptures and photographs made by Saraceno since 2003 and was organized by the Walker Art Center and curated by Yasmil Raymond, curator of Dia Art Foundation. Saraceno is known for his architectural prototypes of aerial habitats and a cluster of inflated spheres anchored to the floor, wall and ceiling of the museum will be featured. Don't miss Dutch artist Jacco Olivier in the Blaffer's new First Take series. Using animation, Olivier's filmic vignettes are painting set in motion where images are reworked and rephotographed. This is Olivier's first solo museum exhibition and brings together ten works created between 2003 and 2010.
