October 15 - January 15,2022
From the organizers:
"Art Advisors Erin Small Ellis and Kristen Force present Ellis Force Art Partners' online exhibition All Tomorrow’s Parties: New York 1983-1987, a showcase of photographer Ben Buchanan’s captivating and iconic work from his time at AREA nightclub in New York.
Buchanan was the resident photographer for the nightclub in New York and captured the most important artists, musicians, and pop icons of the time. Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring mingled with the likes of The Rolling Stones, Grace Jones, and Iggy Pop. An intersection of art and pop culture, AREA was an iconic institution; a lightning-in-a-bottle moment, yet to be replicated. Buchanan’s photographs invite you to step into the zeitgeist of 1980s excess and endless creative possibility, where worlds collide. The exhibition will run online only from October 15 - January 15 on www.ellisforceart.com.
“I had turned up at AREA looking for a job, and they gave me a camera I had no idea how to use and they told me to point it at anything interesting.” - Ben Buchanan
