Perspectives 169: Odili Donald Odita

February 12 - May 02,2010

Odili Donald Odita exhibits new paintings, works on Plexiglas and creates a site-specific exhibition based on the museum's architecture and the "social environment of Houston" (we wonder what this might be since Houston seems to have a million social environments). Through his abstract and geometric shapes, pattern and color, he attempts to address the human condition (!) and explores the ability to trigger memory. Odita was part of the 52nd Venice Biennale and had a one-person show at the Studio Museum in Harlem in 2007. This exhibition is organized by Valerie Cassel Oliver.
