From Museum of Fine Arts Houston: "The annual exhibition Eye on Houston: High School Documentary Photography documents and celebrates Houston’s diverse neighborhoods through a collaboration between the MFAH and Houston Independent School District. Houston is a global city, with strengths in business, international trade, entertainment, culture, media, fashion, science, sports, technology, education, medicine, and research. The area’s more than six million people represent many ethnic and religious backgrounds and a large, growing international community. Houston is often described as the most ethnically and culturally diverse metropolitan area in both Texas and the United States. This year, the 27th edition of Eye on Houston presents photographs by students representing nine high schools: Bellaire, Carnegie Vanguard, DeBakey, Eastwood Academy, Furr, Sam Houston, Westbury, Westside, and Jack Yates. The students documented daily life in their respective communities, capturing moments that reflect the unprecedented year as well as their sense of self, their future, and their imminent transition into adulthood. Eye on Houston offers students from neighborhoods throughout the city an opportunity to share their unique views of Houston."
