Susan Rothenberg: Moving In Place

25 paintings selected by FWMAM chief curator Michael Auping, who has known Rothenberg for over 30 years. Says Auping: "Rather than focusing on Rothenberg's famous early horse paintings, we are looking at the artist's work from a more holistic, formal standpoint, identifying her unusual way of organizing pictorial space, regardless of the figurative content." In other words: another nice-but-not-setting-the-world-on-fire monograph show from Auping, who seems to like his art quiet, subtle, and a hair on the boring side.
