Construction on the Neutral Ground

October 14 - November 18,2022

From Beatrice M. Haggerty Gallery: "The Beatrice M. Haggerty Gallery at the University of Dallas is honored to present the exhibition: Construction on the Neutral Ground. This exhibition features Dan Charbonnet’s interlaced paintings in his first exhibition in the Dallas area. The paintings are constructed of strips of canvas woven together to create works of art that are inspired by the city of New Orleans where he lives and works. The exhibition represents Charbonnet's most significant body of work since abandoning painting for nearly a decade after the trauma of waiting for 7 days to be rescued from the roof of his studio in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. In the works, one finds the calm among the chaos and a distillation of the charm and grit of the Southern Louisiana coast and that enchanting city at the mouth of the Mississippi Delta."
