From Spring Street Studios:
"Spring Street Studios at Sawyer Yards is pleased to announce the opening of Time Is, Time Was, a special exhibition curated by Houston artist and curator, Jonathan Paul Jackson. The exhibition will occupy the ground floor of Spring Street Studios, located at 1824 Spring St, 77007. Jackson will lead a curator walkthrough of the exhibition and conduct a Q+A session on November 19th from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. A reception for the artists will take place Saturday, December 10 from 6:00 to 9:00pm. Light refreshments will be served.

Curator Statement: Swiss moral philosopher, Henri Frederic Amiel, once said: “Time and space are fragments of the infinite for the use of finite creatures.” As finite creatures we are limited in what we can do within the confines of time and space. But when artists step into their studios they are able to bend and stop time at their will through their art. They can travel back in time to their own memories and freeze those moments and emotions into something tangible. They are able to recreate what time represents to them in all of its complexity. The artists in this exhibition have unique ways of expressing time in their works. Time escapes us every day, and when we create art, time can become a bit more understandable and less frightening. This process allows us to reflect on what time is or what time was.
