"The French have a term, “l'appel du vide,” which directly translates to “the call of the void,” the split-second moment when one suddenly has the urge to jump off a cliff or hurl themselves into traffic. Scientists have determined that this phenomenon is a simple miscommunication within the brain, but psychologically it poses larger questions about our relationship with the unknown and self-sacrifice for the sake of discovery. Featuring works by Clint Bargers, Willie Binnie, Celia Eberle, Nathan Harper, Erika Jaeggli, Shamsy Roomiani, and Joel Murray, VOID explores the myriad ways we reckon with the space that lies just beyond our comprehension.
