From LHUCA: "Kat Carmona is a Mexican-American artist who uses her artwork as a means of self-reflection through extreme meditative repetition. Her work employs the use of a technique that she created in 2020, it mirrors a traditional textile making practice of the indigenous Tzotzil Maya people of Mexico. Interwoven showcases 108 spherical looms that have been sealed within the work by the fuzzy fluorescent fabric that is formed on their surfaces. Carmona states “The accumulation of these works are a visual documentation of intentional time spent exploring this practice in the pursuit of healing and radical self-discovery.”"
