From Basket Books & Art: "Basket Books & Art is pleased to present Bookends, an exhibition featuring work by Munro Galloway and Molly Zuckerman-Hartung, on view from October 21 to December 2, 2023. Please join us for an opening reception on Saturday, October 21 from 3-5pm. The bookends conceal the question, which came first. A pair differs differently than a reflection or double. I want to account for something about counting that isn’t cumulative. Is it reductive, to obsess over the two-ness of the bookends? Or is the double a mystical doorway to the infinite? – Molly Zuckerman-Hartung Exploring artistic partnership and collaboration, Bookends emerged from a shared bibliophilia linking Munro Galloway, Molly Zuckerman-Hartung, and Basket Books & Art. Alongside his painting practice, Munro Galloway has been making bookends from salvaged woodshop scraps. These cobbled amalgams became a starting point for Molly Zuckerman-Hartung’s essay on pairs, dependencies, and containers. At Basket, this project takes form within the specific context of a bookstore and art space, including two, parallel components: an exhibition of Galloway’s bookends, supported by pedestals designed by Zuckerman-Hartung; and a publication featuring Zuckerman-Hartung’s essay “Bookends” and images of Galloway’s bookends, which will be released at the exhibition’s opening reception."
