Henk Lammers: HE WAS A LOVELY RED
November 24 - January 31,2023
From the artist:
"HE WAS A LOVELY RED - An artexhibition by the Dutch artist Henk Lammers in Dallas.
What do seven lines of text, each made up of the same 15 letters but in varying order, say about seven iconic images?
On November 24 1963 Lee Harvey Oswald was shot dead.
Henk Lammers, born on this same day, made seven paintings of iconic photographs and added the words that he found in the name of Lee Harvey Oswald.
These words function as a key, open to multiple interpretations.
The exhibitions at the Dallas Library and 500X Gallery will be projections with text interplay.
The exhibition at the Dallas Library 4th floor opens on November 22, 60 years after the assasination of John F. Kennedy and runs until January 31. The reception will be at 5 pm.
The exhibition at 500X Gallery opens on November 24, 60 years after the assasination of Lee Harvey Oswald and the installation will be on view untill sunday November 26.
The live band Chocolate Labrador will perform at the reception, starting at 7 pm.
Concurrent with the Dallas event there are parallel exhibitions at the library and Kunst- Torentje in Henk Lammers' hometown Almelo in the Netherlands.
