Claire Kennedy: Endless Magical Things

From Arts Fort Worth: "Endless Magical Things is an accumulation of works made during Claire Kennedy’s Emerging Artist Residency at Arts Fort Worth from March of 2023 to February of 2024. Primarily focused on the language of painting, small object-based works and multimedia paintings come together in a playful display. Throughout the exhibition, themes of collection, curio cabinets, and constellations are prevalent. In a desire to honor the artist’s collection of small handmade objects, floor plinths and wobbly shelves simulate “houses” for the variety of things. With an emphasis on material exploration, Kennedy utilizes a range of eclectic materials including paper pulp, clay, pom poms, wood, and fibers. Viewers will be invited to examine the array of sentimental small moments that often feel like charms or tchotchkes. Stars, polka dots, stripes, and hearts dominate compositions within which abstraction and unencumbered wonder are of primary importance."
