"Erin Cluley Gallery is pleased to announce, Petite Moments, a group exhibition dedicated to small-scale artworks. Featuring an interdisciplinary roster, the twelve participating artists work across painting, printmaking, photography, and sculpture. Petite Moments emphasizes the materiality and concentrated effect of miniature art— in contrast to the proliferation of large-scale contemporary art, this group show highlights the merits of concentrated focus, attention to detail, and vignettes of process.

Petite Moments includes work from Spain and the contiguous United States among Texas- based artists. In his first showing with Erin Cluley Gallery, Dallas-based photographer and filmmaker Quin Mathews presents images of daily life, cropped and scaled-down. Compacting his visual experience, Mathews brings out the minutiae of beauty in the art and environment around us. Boston-based Jarrett Davis’ gauche paintings frame endangered and invasive insects in Victorian-wallpaper patterns. Juxtaposing his subjects with free-flowing organicism, Davis reinvigorates our aesthetic contemplation of these precarious species. Focusing viewers’ perspective, Petite Moments enlists contemporary art as a vehicle for sensory awareness and artistic potency.
