Dace Kidd: BANG BANG

"An art show, BANG BANG, will open August 10 in Downtown Tyler. The art show will feature most recent color field abstract painting by American Latvian artist Dace Kidd who is based in Tyler, Tx. The art show will benefit Tyler Art Lift, a nonprofit organization founded by Kidd to grow and cultivate art scene in Tyler, Tx.

The artwork displayed is a tribute to Downtown Tyler and references the city’s history, traditions and nostalgia towards americana. Kidd is an academically trained studio artist, and this is a new path in her creative oeuvre that is defined by a change in her painting style and choice of subjects. The show’s timing aligns with a demolition of the historic buildings in Downtown Tyler and construction of a new courthouse for Smith County. The painting series reflects on the change and offers ideas that point toward a better future.

Dace Kidd is a Latvian born American artist living and working in Tyler, Tx. She creates paintings that reference different art styles and genres and large-scale site-specific installations.
