"Beginning August 16, the Georgetown Art Center is proud to present the opening of our newest exhibit LUMINANCE ABSTRACTED. LUMINANCE ABSTRACTED showcases the work of Malina Cipleu and Patrick O’Brien. Luminance refers to light and brightness. It is the inherent quality of being luminous, the radiance that brings clarity to our world. In human vision, luminance plays a crucial role in how we see brightness and contrast, helping us recognize shapes and details in our surroundings. This exhibit celebrates luminance, exploring how luminosity transforms our perception and brings beauty to the world. Glass artist Malina Cipleu and photographer Patrick O’Brien each bring a unique interpretation of luminance, abstracting it through their art.
The exhibit will run from August 16 – September 29, 2024, and is free to attend. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, August 17 from 4-6pm, and an artist talk on Sunday, August 18th at 2pm."
