Fabrik: Beyond the Threads

November 23 - February 08,2025

From Spring Street Studios:
"Spring Street Studios presents Fabrik: Beyond the Threads, an exhibition that stretches the boundaries of material, identity, and connection. While fabric often conjures images of textiles, fashion, and adornment, this show invites you to look deeper—at the unseen frameworks that bind us, the stories stitched into our existence, and the delicate threads that weave the fabric of community, memory, and identity.
Through works from diverse artists across Spring Street Studios, and students from Awty International School, the exhibit unfolds as a tapestry of cultures, personal histories, and artistic expressions. You’ll encounter pieces that range from everyday objects representing the foundations of life to conceptual works that cloak and shield our most fragile selves. With materials that extend beyond cloth—such as metal, wood, and stone—the artworks in Fabrik challenge traditional definitions, offering new ways to experience what it means to construct, support, and protect.
The opening reception on December 7, 2024, from 6-8 pm promises to be an evening filled with interactive experiences, surprises, and activations, where fashion meets abstraction and stories come to life through art. Join us for this journey beyond the threads, where material and metaphor intertwine to reveal the structure of our shared human experience! About the Curator:  Born in Houston and raised in Panama, Krystle Holnes is a visual artist working in watercolor, collage, sculpture, and fiber. Currently the Visual Arts Chair at AWTY International School, her practice blends personal narrative, abstraction, and material exploration. With a background in fashion and merchandising, Holnes finds deep resonance in themes of structure, connection, movement of the figure and identity—core elements of Fabrik: Beyond the Threads. As an educator and experimental curator, she encourages audiences to discover their own stories within art, weaving together diverse perspectives into meaningful, reflective experiences."
