January 03 - February 01,2025
From Throughline:
"Throughline will open its seventh two-person collective member exhibition, “of infinite elastic”, featuring new work by Jeanette “Joy” Harris and Molly Koehn, on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 3909 Main Street, Houston, TX 77004. A reception will occur from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025.
Taking its cue from the poetry of Mina Loy, “of infinite elastic” explores time as a blurring of past, present, and future through a series of durational experiences with textiles, objects, photography, and performances. The exhibition prioritizes rituals, cycles, patterns, and repetitions over numeric calculation, and uses geology, astronomy, and genealogy to illustrate disruptions in temporal logic and sequence. The works encourage slowness and deceleration to yield moments of observation and contemplation.
In addition to new work, Koehn and Harris have collaborated with local artists and thinkers on a series of events and texts that consider “time” from various disciplines.
