Küçük Sinemalar formed as an informal group of film and video artists in İstanbul in 2008 to share and encourage non-traditional moving image works. The Küçük Sinemalar screenings provide a brief survey of experimental avant-garde tendencies emerging from Turkey. The twelve works in this program tackle a wide array of subjects and concerns, including cell phone video abstractions, the nature of historical narratives, and a 16-mm film essay on middle-class seaside vacations.
