Kehinde Wiley: The World Stage: Africa, Lagos ~ Dakar

March 26 - May 03,2009

Wiley is expanding his subject matter beyond young, urban African-American men and rappers. Organized by The Studio Museum in Harlem, The World Stage: Africa, Lagos ~ Dakar features ten new paintings from Kehinde Wiley’s “The World Stage” series. "Over the last two years, Wiley has expanded his project by living and working abroad; he temporarily relocates to different countries and opens satellite studios to become familiar with local culture, history and art. 'The World Stage' series is the ongoing outcome of these travels." Also be sure to join Artpace and the literary center Gemini Ink on Thursday, Mar. 26 from 6:30-8:30 pm for an evening of words and images with Artpace WindowWorks artist Adam Bork and writer Jo Ann Yolanda Hernandez.
