2 to Watch: Mimi Kato + Ann Weisgarber

"2 to Watch lecture series is a collaborative effort between Artpace and Gemini Ink, and pairs a visual artist and a writer in an evening of words and images, gathering literary and visual arts audiences for a critical discussion and examination of crossovers between the genres. 2 to Watch features emerging talents, those new to the community, or established artists with new bodies of work. WindowWorks artist Mimi Kato creates computer-generated self-portraits and animations informed by the folk tales she heard as a child. By photographing herself dressed in costume with animal masks, she explores the implications of her dual heritage. Ann Weisgarber 'has been fascinated by the gritty spirit of pioneer homesteaders ever since her first childhood trip to the American West.' She most recently published the book The Personal History of Rachel DuPree."
