Chinati Foundation's current Artist in Residence Bill Saylor presents his new work at the Ice Plant on East Oak Street. The New York-based artist creates paintings drawing from abstract art to graffiti, ads, and cartoons. Using an array of techniques to build up his canvases, Saylor's work contains "swathes and blobs of Ab-Ex-like impasto jostle for space with monsters, skeletons, leering ectoplasmic shapes." Saylor shows off a number of new large-scale paintings and a group of sculptures made from materials the artist has found while rummaging at the dump.
