The Menil Collection presents an exhibition of rarely-seen drawings exploring Tony Smith's early work, the American artist best known for monumental geometric sculptures in steel and bronze. 30 drawings which were created between 1950 and 1955 are on display which encapsulate the turning point in Smith’s artistic career, as he shifted from his professional architectural work towards painting and sculpture. The exhibition organized by Bernice Rose, Chief Curator of The Menil Drawing Institute and Study Center.
