Kenyatta A. C. Hinkle: Kentifrica Workshops

June 19 - June 23,2012

Los Angeles-based artist Kenyatta A. C. Hinkle will be in residence at Project Row Houses from June 19-23 to lead a series of workshops on the ethnomusicology, hairstyling rituals, and cultural myths surrounding Kentifrica, "a contested geography, identity, and existence" where the histories of Kentucky and the ancestral heritage of West Africa converge. Hinkle and composer and musician Kevin Robinson will lead Instrument-making workshops June 20, 4 - 6pm, June 21, 4 - 7pm, June 22, 4 - 7pm.
