A three-part program celebrating the works of filmmaker Stan Brakhage, in commemoration of the republication of his seminal 1963 book Metaphors on Vision, a project of Anthology Film Archives and Light Industry.

Program 1, copresented by the Austin Film Society, includes some of Brakhage’s earliest work, which are discussed in the book. Location: AFS Theater.

Program 2 of Experimental Response Cinema’s tribute to Stan Brakhage and the republication of his Metaphors on Vision is a program of works best known as the “Pittsburgh Trilogy.” Thomas Beard of Light Industry will introduce. Location: GrayDUCK Gallery, Austin.

For the final screening of our tribute to Stan Brakhage and his republished Metaphors on Vision, Experimental Response Cinema teams up with Spellerberg projects to present a program of work by filmmaker Marie Menken, whose work was an enormous influence on Brakhage in his early career.
