Alberto Mijangos: 159: A Retrospective of His Art (and Life)


July 12 - January 13,2019

In this exhibition, curated by Teresa Eckmann, "ninety-six artworks by long-time San Antonio resident Alberto Mijangos trace his artistic trajectory over the course of nearly a half-century from neo-figuration, to figurative abstraction, to post-modern appropriation as the artist mines a variety of themes such as flags, t-shirts, underwear, and Eduard Manet’s Olympia of 1863."

Opening: July 12, 2018 | 6-9 pm

Curator Talk: October 18, 2018 | 7-8 pm
Curator Lecture and Catalogue Release: Dr. Teresa Eckmann will present an overview of Alberto Mijangos' artistic development and contributions. The accompanying exhibition catalogue will be available. It includes a curatorial essay and interviews with Mijangos' former students and contemporaries.
