"Drawing inspiration from ruins and other historic objects Jeff Forster is interested in how these things document early existence. While his fired works draw on the long history of ceramics his unfired projects exploit the living, ephemeral qualities of the material. Trace references both dilapidated architecture and the natural environment with an emphasis on their frail states. Both inevitably succumb to the natural process of reclamation, leaving only a residue behind."
