February 16 - March 23,2019
A show of new paintings by Lubbock-based artist Shannon Cannings. "Constantly seduced by the colors and textures of an omnipotent consumer culture, she gleans from a multitude of stimuli— from shiny plastic objects wrapped in equally alluring plastic wrapping, to obsessive reflections on color theory. But, Cannings is not just concerned with the formal aspects of the work. On the contrary, she engages the viewer to explore the complexities of a gun culture that has become more and more pervasive in everyday America."
