Art Lectures with Dr. Conrad: Fernando Botero

"Fernando Botero is a Colombian-born artist that has reached international success through his unique paintings and sculptures. Beginning at the age of sixteen as an illustrator for a popular newspaper, Botero is considered one of the preeminent South American artists. Famous for his unique style of figures that have been described as enlarged or with exaggerated volume, Botero’s art is instantly recognizable for its figurative forms. Combining aspects of humor and reality, Botero’s work is often political in nature, dealing with issues from his native Colombia as well as international concerns.

 Saturday Lectures at LHUCA is an informal conversation over the life and work of contemporary artists. It’s a stress-free opportunity to examine the art and ideas that underlie much of the modern art world. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and join the conversation.
