February 22 - March 28,2020
Opening reception: Saturday, February 22nd, 6 - 8pm
12.26 is thrilled to present new ceramics by Max Maslansky on The Table. Employing the ocean as a fictional site to explore human expression, Maslansky humorously personifies different sea creatures while making allusions to vanity, freedom, shame, intellectual life, lust, birth and death as small cogs in the wheel of nature.
The ceramics make reference in appearance to Palissy Plates, originated by the 16th century Frenchman Bernard Palissy and his many imitators, which often depicted various hyper-detailed fauna.
Max Maslansky (b. 1976) lives and works in Los Angeles. His work has been exhibited at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; Five Car Garage, Los Angeles; Gavin Brown's Enterprise, New York; Dutton, New York; and Galerie Sébastien Bertrand, Geneva, Switzerland.
The Table: Max Maslansky, Recent Work will be on view on the Table from February 22nd, 2020 to March 28th, 2020. The public is invited to attend the opening of the exhibition and to meet the artist on Saturday, February 22nd from 6 to 8 PM.
