‘Think Ink’ PrintMatters Annual Artist Membership Show

From PrintMatters Houston: "PrintMatters Houston is pleased to announce “Think Ink,” its annual Artist Membership Show for 2020. The show is juried by Franny Koelsch of Koelsch Haus Gallery and will be on view there Nov. 7-25, 2020. The gallery is located at 1020 Peden Street, Houston, 77006, and is open 1-5:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and by appointment by calling 713-862-5744 or emailing info@koelschhaus.com. There are 27 artists with a total of 37 prints selected for the exhibition. The PrintMatters artists include Andis Applewhite, Janet Badger, Pat Barton, Lucinda Cobley, Shanti Conlan, Tess Doyle, Luisa Duarte, Katherine Rhodes Fields, Orna Feinstein, Leamon Green, Carol Hayman, Vivian Hordes, Ann Johnson, Liv Monique Johnson, Cathie Kayser, Marie Leterme, Anna Mavromatis, Ann McIntyre, Eileen McClellan, Kelly Moran, Suzanne Manns, Sharon Navage, Elvia Perrin, Grace Phillips, Terry Svat, Kathy Trice, and Nicole Wysocki. The show features lithographs, etchings, linocuts, woodcuts, silkscreens, mezzotints, collagraphs, monotypes, mixed media, collage, and more. There will be an opening at Koelsch Gallery from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020. COVID-19 safety measures will be observed, with 15 people allowed in the gallery at any one time. There is a porch and large outdoor space for mingling. Rain date is Nov. 14, 2020. Koelsch Haus Gallery is a unique Houston art and fashion gallery located in the Montrose area. Owner Franny Koelsch hosts artists’ exhibitions and events on a regular basis. The gallery has been in existence for 26 years in various locations across Houston. PrintMatters Houston was formed in 2009 to support printmakers. PrintHouston 2011 was the first city-wide celebration of original prints throughout the Houston area. Museums, non-profit spaces, galleries, and alternative spaces joined in the celebration, presenting exhibitions, workshops, and special events open to the public. In 2017 PrintHouston became a biennial event. In conjunction with PrintHouston, the organization sponsors NEXT, a national, juried, biennial competition that includes artists from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. They also sponsor Rockin’ Rollin’ Prints, during which a two-ton steamroller is used to print three-by-five-foot woodcuts by 50 Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana artists. The mission of PrintMatters Houston is to promote traditional and nontraditional printmaking, encourage print collecting, and further the professional growth of members through citywide outreach, public art functions, and annual member exhibitions. The membership consists of artist members and general members, and soon to be added are student members. Artist members are established artists from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.To become an artist member, artists apply and are juried into the organization by the PrintMatters board. PrintMatters Houston became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation in 2015.
