Artists: Abieyuwa Eigbobo, Tarica Gross, Miriam Puga, David Bojay, Jes Farias, and Donavan Prentice From the organizers: "Digital art created by the graduating seniors in the New Media Art BFA program in the Department of Studio Art goes on exhibition Dec. 5, 2020, in a show titled Initium Novum. The exhibition is a collection of virtual installations created in the midst of a global pandemic and is hosted online via New Art City, a networked virtual gallery. Works range from culturally significant 3D renderings that explore Nigerian adornments associated with matrimony, to generative video art that explores the relationship between sound and color and a single-player game based on the idea of a polyglot. Each artist confronts the challenges of transitioning their work from the traditional physical installation into the evolving digital realm. Media used include video, 3D models, animation, virtual reality, computer-generated audio, and video game technology. The New Media Art program in the College of Visual Arts and Design at the University of North Texas offers both BFA and MFA degrees. As a transdisciplinary program, students re-frame their understanding of different tools, technologies, theories, and methods, to develop hybrid systems and solutions beyond any single discipline."
