An exhibition featuring works from the permanent collection of the International Museum of Art & Science.
"The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) presents “Guided by Curiosity,” an inspiring exhibition featuring items from the museum’s permanent collection that will pique your interest and fuel your imagination. “Guided by Curiosity” is the result of four exhibitions curated by members of the museum’s education staff that debuted online earlier this year as individual virtual exhibits. At a time when most museums are focusing their efforts on putting more content online, IMAS saw the popularity of these virtual exhibitions as a compelling reason to “buck the trend” by bringing the works of art together in the gallery as “Guided by Curiosity.”
These four curators and IMAS educators, Lisa Moreno, Veronica Cortez, Yelitza Garcia and Valerie Escamilla discovered objects in the museum’s permanent collection that sparked their curiosity in subject matters they were interested in and wished to explore more deeply. “Guided by Curiosity” draws you in to see how we know about bird behavior from the methods of early naturists to document them through realistic art, and the intriguing and turbulent influence Spanish colonization had on the artistic and religious practices of the peoples of Mexico through pottery, textiles, and iconography.
“Guided by Curiosity” will be on exhibit from December 5, 2020, through March 6, 2021. Visit
theimasonline.org for more information and to view the four individual virtual exhibits."
