From Box 13 ArtSpace: Featuring: Almenda Desmond, Cinthia Gomez, Misty-Dawn Harder, Jessica Kreutter, Emily Link, and Yma Luis,Theresa, Norberto Gomez, Jr. Escobedo "BOX 13 ArtSpace is pleased to present four exhibitions opening to the public October 23, 2021. In the Front BOX PrintMatters exhibits A National Student Printmaking Show Juried by renowned artist Kathryn Polk. In the Back BOX Chills & Thrills Curated by Cinthia Gomez and featuring artists Almenda Desmond, Cinthia Gomez, Misty-Dawn Harder, Jessica Kreutter, Emily Link, and Yma Luis. This group of artists explore personal tales about childhood scares, frightening things in the dark, classic horror stories from authors like Edgar Allan Poe and other spooky tales to immerse you into a spine-tingling atmosphere. Showing in our Window BOX will show a site-specific installation created by Theresa Escobedo entitled Home Making and Land Healing. This work is inspired by the artists' conversations on ancestral homelands, places of origin, migration, and most recently, the arrival of 15,000 Haitian refugees at the U.S. Mexico border near Del Rio, Texas. In the Upstairs BOX, RITUAL THEMES Norberto Gomez, Jr. engages in the interstices and chasms of death and technology, aesthetics and horror, and metaphysics and mysticism."
