Linda Hofheinz: Artifacts, Images, and Tales from the Ripaängi Expeditions

From Heidi Vaughan Fine Art: "HEIDI VAUGHAN FINE ART is proud to present Artifacts, Images, and Tales from the Ripaängi Expeditions, a new collection of works of art by Linda Hofheinz. The exhibition opens Saturday, October 23, 2021, and runs through November 27, 2021 at the gallery, located at 3510 Lake Street at Colquitt in the Upper Kirby Galleries. Gallery hours for the opening will be from 11 am until 5 pm for those avoiding crowds, and from 5 pm to 8 pm for the reception. A talk about the exhibition/expedition will take place on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 1 pm. With Artifacts, Images, and Tales from the Ripaängi Expeditions, Hofheinz invites viewers into both new and existing worlds to meet their human and animal inhabitants. Sponsored by the Society for Free-Range Imagination--membership open to anyone who has had a daydream, a fantasy or visualized themselves in a different time or place--it’s likely you’re already a member in good standing.  All are invited to come along and share this experience. The exhibition is comprised of paintings and mixed media works on canvas and on panel, as well as artifacts. For the artist, the Ripaängi Expeditions provide an opportunity to explore fantastic places outside of everyday experiences.In 2008, Hofheinz had a brain bleed which resulted in an inoperable mass, located in an eloquent part of the brain. Unable to reproduce a simple stick house drawing, she was told her painting career had very likely ended. By focusing on activities involving eye-hand coordination, she was eventually able to paint again. In some ways these brain-associated problems have liberated the artist and opened a door into the adventure of Ripaängi. Instead of focusing on daily headaches and numerous other difficulties, Hofheinz realizes every single day how fortunate she is to be able to experience real miracles through the power of art. The works of art in Artifacts, Images, and Tales from the Ripaängi Expeditions are a fusion of the everyday and the mystical, depicted with rich and sensual realism and touches of wry humor and humanity. A constant in all the objects is the spiritual dimension of realms unseen. Hofheinz is a Houston artist and native, practicing in the Museum District. Throughout her long career, she has shown with numerous galleries and in exhibitions including at the Museo de la Nacion in Lima, Peru, the Wichita Falls Museum of Art in Wichita Falls, Texas, the Arlington Museum of Art in Arlington, Texas, the Jung Center in Houston, Texas, and the Shift Gallery in Seattle Washington. She was a finalist for The Hunting Art Prize and the Liepzig St. Thomaskirche Friedensfenster Competition in Leipzig, Germany. Her works of art are found in prominent private art collections throughout the United States and in Europe. HEIDI VAUGHAN FINE ART represents, embraces, and celebrates diversity.
