Houston's first and only citywide tour of ceramic artists' studio's partners with Empty Bowls Houston and Houston Food Bank, Sunday, December 5, 2021. HOUSTON ... ClayHouston's Bayou City Clay Crawl returns Sunday, December 5, for its fifth annual event, providing the public with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to tour studios and to discover pieces created by ClayHouston member artists in time for holiday shopping. Bayou City Clay Crawl (www.clayhouston.org/BCCC) is unique in that we invite the public into our studios to talk to the artists, see some demo's and just enjoy immersion in the clay world. And, of course, a wide variety of pieces will be available for purchase. The 2021 crawl is a Heights-centric crawl with bookends in East Downtown and Independence Heights, featuring 40-plus artists participating in seven studios/locations offering unique pieces ranging from traditional pottery to large-scale sculptures as well as installations and demonstrations. The event will be held from 10 am to 5 pm. This year, the event is partnering with Empty Bowls Houston, an international grassroots effort by artists and craftspeople to feed the hungry in their local communities, implemented locally to benefit Houston Food Bank. Empty Bowls Houston will have a table set up at the Nosami studio during the crawl. Visitors can choose from an assortment of handmade bowls available for a minimum donation of $25. 100% of Empty Bowls Houston sales go directly to Houston Food Bank.
