"Dallas College is proud to present Colonia, the solo exhibition of Hector A. Ramirez which features several multimedia works including painting, readymade sculpture, video, and sound works. The exhibition will be on view from July 8, 2022, through April 29, 2022 at Forum Gallery on Brookhaven campus. An artist talk and opening reception will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 2 PM – 5 PM.

Ramirez looks at the world around him with a certain sense of playfulness. Taking inspiration from his life experiences in El Paso, he offers an ironic take on how cultural icons interact, blend, and evolve in the everyday. The artist often remixes familiar aspects of Mexican American identity with pop culture to create humorous and unexpected situations.
