Romulo Martinez: For Good or Bad

September 09 - October 07,2023

From the Oak Cliff Cultural Center:

"The Oak Cliff Cultural Center is pleased to present artist Romulo Martinez’ For Good or Bad opening on September 9 with a reception from 6 – 8 pm.

Venezuelan born artist Romulo Martinez incorporates various mixed media techniques including painting, collage, and serigraphy to create two and three-dimensional artworks that represent human emotion through allegorical narratives with color playing a key conceptual role. Often playful and surreal, Martinez’ work seeks to connect the viewer to their own emotions and human experience thereby infusing the work with new narrative and conceptual content.

In For Good or Bad Martinez’ newest body of work continues his exploration into the complexity of human experience where emotion and thinking coincide to guide one’s personal narrative.  While the objects and elements in his work are sourced from his own self-discovery, their existence in the everyday allows the viewer to connect through a collective narrative of human existence while offering a perspective different from their own.

Romulo Martinez is a Venezuelan artist residing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Texas. Martinez has a degree in Fine Arts, Mention in Painting, from the University of Zulia and a Master’s in Artistic Production, Artistic Practice specialty, from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain. He has several awards and artistic recognitions, and 12 solo exhibitions in leading museums, cultural institutions and private galleries, including the most recent Reflejos held at Daisha Board Gallery – Dallas. His work has been exhibited in more than 70 collective exhibitions, festivals, and art salons internationally including Maracaibo, Caracas, Valencia, Maracay, Barcelona, Trujillo and Ciudad Bolívar, Bogotá-Colombia, Valencia-Spain, Aruba, City of Singapore-Singapore, Lima-Peru, and within the United States in Miami, Dallas, Frisco, Coppell, Denton, Plano and Fort Worth.
