From Co-Opts Research + Projects: "CO-OPt Research + Projects, as an artist-run space, opened in July 2019 with an exhibition of works in progress by its founding members. Now four years on, we present a second exhibition of works in progress by our current members. Works In Progress II serves as a re-introduction to the artist-members of CO-OPt and the function of the space as a working artist studio, featuring work by J. Eric Simpson, Aaron Hegert, Cody Arnall, Heather Warren-Crow, and Justin Houser. At the opening on December 3, you are invited to view these new works as a glimpse into our working processes and research. At the opening, Justin Houser, new member at CO-OPt and curator of the Longitudes experimental music series, will perform at 6pm. In the gallery, Works In Progress II will feature a two-channel video work by Aaron Hegert (Everything Is Collective), sculptures by Cody Arnall, and a new multi-media work by J. Eric Simpson. In the library, recordings of Justin Houser’s music and sound works will be featured in a listening station. In the projection room, Heather Warren-Crow will present a sound installation, along with a tub of compost with analog film degrading inside. Visitors are invited to bring compost/coffee grounds to add to the compost bin. Work in progress by Aaron Hegert (Everything Is Collective). About CO-OPt Research + Projects: CO-OPt Research + Projects is an artist-run studio space and gallery located in Lubbock, Texas, founded in 2019. The gallery features curated exhibitions of contemporary art, a reading library of artist books and zines, and special programming of artist talks, performances, and experimental music shows. CO-OPt also functions as a working artist studio where the artists J. Eric Simpson, Cody Arnall, and Aaron Hegert center their research and practice.
