From the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft: "Fiber in 3D is an exhibition partnership between Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC) and Fiber Art Now, the international craft organization and quarterly journal. On view at HCCC January 27 - May 4, 2024, the physical iteration of this exhibition will showcase an immersive, experiential installation selected from Fiber Art Now’s exhibition-in-print, Fiber in 3D, which is dedicated to fiber art that occupies space and explores dimension. Fiber in 3D is juried by the Fiber Art Now creative team, Lori Butanis, Barbara Delaney, Cami Smith, and Beth Smith, and the corresponding installation in Houston Center for Contemporary Craft's Asher Gallery will be selected by HCCC Curator + Exhibitions Director Sarah Darro. Fiber in 3D’s call for submissions is now open through November 30, 2023. Artists exploring scale and installation-based practice in fiber are encouraged to apply for this unique opportunity to exhibit work both in print and in physical space. Details about the installation selected for HCCC will be available in mid-December, 2023. Fiber in 3D is organized by Houston Center for Contemporary Craft and Fiber Art Now. About Fiber Art Now Fiber Art Now is a quarterly magazine that serves more than 120,000 fiber artists across the globe. This reader-supported publication highlights contemporary fiber art and also features annual juried exhibitions, grants, and community partnership opportunities. About Houston Center for Contemporary Craft Serving as a treasured resource in the Houston arts community for more than 20 years, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC) is a nonprofit visual arts center dedicated to advancing education about the process, product, and history of craft. HCCC showcases emerging and acclaimed artists in exhibitions, introduces visitors of all ages to contemporary craft through hands-on and virtual programming, and supports the development of working artists through its artist residency program. HCCC is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM – 5 PM. Holiday hours for 2023: HCCC will be closed to the public November 23 – 27 for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend and December 24 – January 2 for winter holidays. HCCC is also closed on Easter, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4th, and Labor Day. Admission is free. HCCC is located in the Museum District at 4848 Main Street, three blocks south of the Wheeler Ave. MetroRail station. Free parking is available directly behind the facility, off Rosedale and Travis Street.
