"In an early start to FotoFest 2024, Beyond My Lens, opens February 17 at the Jung Center Gallery, which is a Participating Space in that Event. Tim’s photographs look back to the early days of photography with images printed using alternative processes and printing techniques. He choose these historical printing processes to evoke the timelessness of his content and his interpretive rather than documentary intent. His photographs are meditations on the constant and inevitable change in Nature and in Culture.

From his portfolio Long, Long Journey to the Sea (gold-toned albumen prints), his images trace the actual and metaphorical journey of a particle of water from its birth in the mountains above Asheville, NC, through rivers and swamps, under bridges and over waterfalls until it reaches the endless sea. Tim sees the journey of water as parallel to that of the joys and travails of life's journey. The images in Sanctuary (palladium on translucent vellum prints) are studies on the sanctuary archetype embedded in the "collective unconscious," as described by the Swiss psychologist Carl Jung. “Sanctuary,” as represented by ruins and remnants left behind, embodies hope and refuge in response to fear and loss—here seen through the lens of time. In Tongues Turned to Stone (polymer photogravures printed on hand-made Gampi-shi paper), Tim explores ancient Greek and Roman theatre ruins as lost sanctuaries. His emphasis is on the interaction of Nature, Culture, and History as a process of decay, neglect and loss. Contemporary techniques included in the exhibition are represented by inkjet prints on metallic paper using Piezography inks from his portfolio, Watercourse Way, a further meditation on principles found in the Tao Te Ching and metaphorically illustrated by the flow of water."
