For The Love of Art: Selections From The Collection
May 28 - July 03,2024
From Dallas College Galleries:
"Dallas College Galleries is proud to present: For The Love of Art: Selections From The Collection, a colorful survey of work that can be found on the Mountain View Campus. Dallas College is a collecting institution with a permanent collection of over one thousand works by national, regional and student artists. Through paintings, photographs, prints and sculptural works, the permanent collection is a snapshot of the rich history of the vibrant Dallas Art scene.
This expansive exhibition gathers a mix of historical and contemporary art created in the past 60 years. Highlights include: an abstract painting by Richard Childers, co-founder of Dallas’ oldest artist collective; the 500x Gallery, a Robert Indiana Classic Love tapestry donated to the college by the McDermott family, and sculptural works by the city’s very own Alfonso “the pinata man” Hernandez.
These examples are just a few from the nearly 20 works on view in this exhibition. The works represent Dallas College’s permanent art collection’s mission: to foster an appreciation for the richness and diversity of art.
The gallery team invites you to visit the Cliff Gallery at Dallas College Mountain View Campus between Monday May 28th and Wednesday July 3rd to take a journey through For The Love of Art: Selections From The Collection and immerse yourself in the hidden gems that this extensive collection has to offer! Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 – 4:00 or by appointment"
