Arielle Masson: Chaotic Nodes

August 10 - October 06,2024

From the MFAH: "Arielle Masson: Chaotic Nodes is the first exhibition in a series celebrating the Glassell School of Art faculty. The exhibition is open to the public and is installed on all three floors of the Glassell School of Art. “A chaotic node happens when the collective creations of the mind achieve an existential paroxysm of absurdity, manifesting itself as a tear in the fabric of reality. This schism, in turn, expresses itself through great collective violence. Today, the chaotic mind’s nodes are happening at an accelerated pace, letting us ponder where the meat grinder and soul harvesting machine are at work.” —Arielle Masson Born in Mexico, Arielle Masson grew up in Brussels, where she studied drawing at the École des Arts Visuels d’Uccle. She continued her education in Paris, earning a master of literature degree and completing postgraduate studies in linguistics at the Sorbonne. She then obtained a master of fine arts degree from the University of Houston and was awarded a fellowship in the Glassell School of Art’s Core Residency Program, as well as the Nancy B. Negley Artist Residency Program at the Dora Maar House in Ménerbes, France. Masson currently teaches painting and drawing at the Glassell School of Art in partnership with the University of St. Thomas in Houston."
