From Heidi Vaughan Fine Art: "HEIDI VAUGHAN FINE ART  is delighted to present CALL OF THE WILD, an exhibition of paintings, assemblage sculptures, and jewelry by Linda Hofheinz. Call of the Wild opens Saturday, September 7, 2024. Doors open at 11 am, the party is from 5 pm to 8 pm, and you are invited! The gallery is located at 3510 Lake Street at Colquitt in Houston's oldest Gallery Row. Guests are encouraged to wear something special in keeping with the Call of the Wild theme. Call of the Wild is an artistic exploration of the beauty of animals. Rare or endangered animals are portrayed, often in proximity to priceless or one-of-a-kind artifacts or human creations. The works explore the impact of animals on human life, the influence of humans on animals, and the way spirituality is expressed in these relationships. According to Hofheinz: Drawing, painting, creating is something I have always done. When this experience was interrupted for a time, I began to appreciate more fully what I have come to think of as everyday miracles. The themes of hope, memories, the healing rhythms of nature, the power of intuition and the strength of the human spirit inspire the images I make. I share my father's fascination with astronomy, mythology, and history. I especially enjoy observing and interacting with people. I also take joy in doing portraits and often include people in my painting. Birds fascinate me and I love animals of all kinds. My work is a reflection of my own wonder, reverence, and passion for life - and my strong belief in the power of optimism. Call of the Wild offers an odyssey through untamed forests and ethereal spaces. People and animals sometimes interact or occupy their own environments, pursuing unpredictable activities. Beauty and joy permeate the spaces and a quiet calm invites a closer look. Many of the paintings offer surprises for those who study them closely. Linda Hofheinz has shown her work at the Museo de la Nación in Lima, Peru, the Wichita Falls Museum of Art, the Arlington Museum of Art, The Jung Center in Houston, and Shift Gallery in Seattle, Washington. In 2008, she was a finalist for The Hunting Art Prize as well as a finalist for the Liepzig St. Thomaskirche Friedensfenster Competiton in Leipzig, Germany. Hofheinz is active in the Houston art community. Her work is included in many prominent private collections in the United States and in Europe. She is currently represented by Heidi Vaughan Fine Art. Previous gallery representation includes Gremillion Fine Art, Deborah Colton Gallery, and Wayne Gilbert's G Gallery. She has also exhibited at Redbud Arts Center in Houston."
